New Kitchen Project

As many of you know, the Montgomery's are finally beginning the remodel project on our kitchen.  I'm so excited to see it all complete, but the work involved seems to grow more with each phase.  We've purchased new appliances and the refrigerator and stove have been installed, drop ceiling has been removed, cabinets removed and the sheet rock guys came today to do some repairs.  The cabinet builder came on Saturday to make final measurements and drawings.  He's suppose to begin in a week or so.  We're on our way!!!   Here's a few pictures of the beginning steps.

New appliances.  We're moving the stove from the island to the east wall.

Big cabinets and the dropped ceiling are out.

New All Clad cookware for the Induction stovetop.

Winter Turns to Spring

As you can tell by the date gap, I'm having a bit of a hard time getting things posted to this blog in a timely manner.  So, here's my attempt to play catch-up and fill in with some of the events out here on the 'range' these past few weeks.

February was our month for new babies in the cattle herd.  It was so fun to go out each day and see who had given birth since our last visit.  Of our 20 cows all but one has calved and we expect to see the last one any day now.  It's been a exceptional calving season.  With each cow producing a beautiful, healthy, bouncing, baby calf.

We continued having calves through March as we  began our annual 'Spring' tasks of getting the calves 'worked', cleaning up around the yard and preparing the garden.  It's been a very busy month.

Leyton came to spend a week with Grandma and Papa for his spring break.  We played games (he loves to beat Papa at UNO), he helped me plant my early garden crops and he and 'Papa' worked around the farm, went fishing and just hung out.  Papa let him shoot his first BB gun, which is kinda a 'right of passage' when you live out in the country here in Oklahoma.  And, as usual, Papa let him help with tasks like gathering the eggs and helping feed the horses to earn money.  By the end of the week he had enough for a trip to Walmart and a new DS game.  Papa, obviously, pays well.  I remember when I used to babysit to earn money and made 50 cents an hour.  But, that was another time. . . .a long, long time ago.

While Leyton was here, he got to play with his 'cousins' Brock, Brandon & Lauren several times, which is one of his favorite things to do.  On Wednesday Meme (his great-Grandmother) and I took them to the park for lunch then bowling at 89er' Lanes. Later, Stacey and Lillian met us as  Highland Park where they played and ate ice cream and cookies till we made them leave. They had such a great time and I can't help but think about how fast they're all growing up.  Baby Lillian's 1st birthday will be in 10 days and (while we didn't know it that day), baby Leia would be born the following Monday.   At the end of the week, Leyton and I drove back to McKinney so Maddox (whose school doesn't let out for spring break) could have a little fun too.  On Friday, Trinity and I took them to a local science museum and to play in a large park/lake area near their house.  It was a beautiful spring day and just the kind of day I had always looked forward too back when I had a job and had to work all those years.  Friday evening the boys and I went to play at Amazing Jake's Arcade while Trinity and Kris had a much deserved date night.     I'm a very lucky girl!
